Training Events

The BLA committee organises and subsidises training events for members on topics of agreed mutual interest. In the last few years these have included: the popular Jargon Busting training, led by finance and accounting lecturer Matt Davies of Aston Business School, on the subject of business terminology; and training days on market research and financial databases.

The next BLA training events will be Social Media Workshops. There will be one workshop held at Cass Business School on Wednesday 17th March 2010 and another at Northumbria University on Friday 16th April. The workshops will be mainly practical giving attendees the opportunity to gain experience using some web 2.0 tools. The event will cover the different types of tools currently being used in libraries, tips on how to evaluate different services and the key issues covered in social media policies and guidelines. More information on the event and details of how to book can be found on the event flyer.
